The US picture
There is no single federal standard for psychosocial risk at work in the United States. Under the General Duty Clause of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers must keep their workplace free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm, and OSHA publishes guidance on workplace stress and workplace violence. Some states have gone further, for example on workplace violence prevention.
That leaves many organisations looking for a recognised framework to follow. ISO 45003 is the international guidance for managing psychosocial risk, and it fits alongside ISO 45001 for any organisation already working to it. Your exact duties depend on your state and sector, so check what applies to you.
Built for US frontline services
Our courses are designed for frontline and safety critical work: fire, police, EMS and paramedics, health care, transit and the military. They are delivered by a Canadian Registered Safety Professional who served in the fire service for 20 years.
Each course can be general, for any workplace, or tailored to a frontline service with sector examples, case studies, hazards and support resources. Every course comes in an ISO 45003 edition.
